Setting: This is after the fight. Hiten is dead, leaving his three shards behind. Myoga went to pick them up.
Myoga stuttered, "M-m-my Lord?"
Inu-Yasha said quietly, "Save the respect... I don't deserve it... If only I'd been quicker, Kagome would still be..."
"Inu-Yasha."
He turned around, and saw Kagome and Shippo standing in a cloud of smoke. "Ka-Kagome...?"
Myoga, perched on Inu-Yasha's shoulder, said nervously, "Th-those must be... their ghosts! Coming to say... sniff.... their final farewells..."
"Then?" Inu-Yasha gasped. *This is the end...?*
Kagome continued, "Inu-Yasha... Thank you for everything."
Shippo chipped in, "Same here... My dad's soul can rest in peace now..."
Suddenly, a wind seemed to lift them from the ground. Inu-Yasha yelled out, "No wait! Don't go!" He grabbed Kagome's hand. *I have to tell her...* "Kagome, I need you, please don't go..." he trailed off as the foxfire cleared away from them. "You're alive?"
Kagome looked at him wide-eyed, "Um... what did you mean 'Don't go'...?"
Shippo explained, "Pa...he shielded us with his foxfire..."
Myoga said, "Well, don't you know a foxfire shield when you see one?"
Unbelieving and embarrased, Inu-Yasha suddenly noticed he was still holding onto Kagome's Hand. He flung it away before yelling, "You're ALL lying idiots!" and he stomped off.
Shippo stared after him and said, "I don't know what he's being so mopey about..."
Kagome agreed, "Especially since we got so many new Shikon shards..."
So nothing changed. D'oh!
Heh, wasn't what you were expecting? Tell me what you think of it!
