4. REPORT This paper addresses a growing problem with emerging pet resistant
Staphyloccocci and a factor which contributes to resistance, bacterial "biofilm"
The paper will well written, referenced, and addresses the issues
(INTRODUCTION). The authors have screened the biofilm ability of S intermedius
in dodg-to-dog bite wounds to assess biofilm formation and resistance (METHODS).
Overall this is an important report using appropriate bacterial and animal
samples and an accurate biofilm identification test FISH. The bacterial
protocols are listed in Table 1 and resistance in Table 2 (METHODS). The results
suggest that there was no association between wound infection nor susceptibility
to ampicillin, clyndamycin penicillin g and piperacyllin (but there was with
most other antimicrobials) with biofilm formation. (RESULTS). Another issue
could be the small sample of biofilm producing samples (only 7?) being used to
draw conclusions. Perhaps the authors could clarify this further in text as it
could be confusing perhaps "but no relationship was found with AMP etc..." would
be better (last 2 sentences of RESULTS.
