Clinical and hepatic enzymes in
6 cats diagnosed with lymphocytic-plasmacytic cholangiohepatitis were evaluated before, during and after
treatment with prednisone. The steroid improved clinical and blood test values
in all cats but subsequent examinations showed elevated serum hepatic enzymes
(without clinical signs). Prednisone appears to be an effective drug to control
cholangiohepatitis but patients should be constantly
evaluated for effective long-term control.
Key words: lymphocytic-plasmacytic cholangiohepatitis;
prednisone; cat.
