YOUPI N°2 12/2001
Here is the second edition of the magazine Youpi. Of course, being the season of goodwill it contains an article on Christmas in France but there is more than that. We have also included an article on one of the great masters, impressionist painter Claude Monet. We have a look at fashion with another artist, Jean-Paul Gaultier. In the cinema section this month we look at La Ville est Tranquille, a film that talks about the problems in society in Marseille. Meanwhile in Paris we have an article about Gustave Eiffel and his famous 320 metre tower. Finally there is a taste of literature, with the book that all French people from 7 to 77 years of age have read, "Le Petit Prince". So, only 6 articles but its quality that matters not quantity.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Youpi!

YOUPI N°3 05/2002

Here at last is the third edition of Youpi. It is a very special edition because it contains the experiences of the Firbank students following their big trip to France and their home stay with French families. They tell us about the people they met, the places they discovered, the things they feared and the things they loved. But that's not all! In this edition we also learn about Guadeloupe, the life of Nancy Wake, Brigitte Bardot, the new Euro currency and the Cathedral of Notre-dame in Paris. Our cinema section also reviews the films "le Château de ma Mère" ("My mother's castle") and "la Gloire de mon Père" ("My father's glory"). 15 articles in total - all in English and in French.

For this edition, we wanted to talk about France but also about Australia. It's very interesting to see how some students compare French and Australian schools or the way of life in these two countries. And some reflection are really funny! We hope you will enjoy this edition because it has something special: something more personal, emotional. This is the last edition for 2002 but wealready have some more new ideas for 2003. We wish you a very happy new year. Youpi!!
