Vanessa began volunteer work with disadvantaged children when she was fourteen. This had a substantial impact upon her life, as she made friends with children that have terminal illnesses. In 1997 at the age of fifteen while performing in a Russian restaurant, which she performed regularly at a man named Jack storm heard her sing. He was so impressed by her voice that he told his partner, Mark Holden to come along and hear her singing. After Mark heard her sing, they both agreed to sign her on to there management company MarJac productions.
This happened in 1996 when Vanessa was only 16 years of age. She also signed
to an Australian production company called CBK productions, and an independent
record label called transistor music, that distribute music in Australia
and New Zealand. But Vanessa was not just a singer she was a songwriter and
started writing her own songs.
Her first Single HAVE A LOOK was released in July 1999. It was a great start
to her career and went Gold in just seven weeks. In November 1999, Vanessa
released a second single called ABSOLUTLY EVERYBODY, which went gold in just
three weeks. It also achieved double platinum sales in Australia, making
it the longest ever charting single by an Australian female artist.
Since then she has had many other singles and albums, that have achieved
greatness on the charts going gold and then platinum. She has also performed
at many Australian recognized events such as the NRL grand final, Sydney
opera house, Darling Harbour on New years eve 1999, Opening and closing ceremony
of the Sydney 2000 Olympic games, Opening ceremony of the
