A single free line loops through the air. It first stresses and then makes a big turn. The lineís movement is the result of a balance between tension and ease.
Sosho is a calligraphic style developed for women in the medieval period in Japan. It was created to be distinctively different from the box-like formal Kaisho menís style of writing.
Soshoís freer and more abstract character is also similar to some handwriting styles in the west.
In this series, the line departs from the flat surface into three dimensional space. It swings around the body, its movement enhanced by its new rhythms and colours.Yuri Kawanabe
