A menu from Canberra, a passenger ship at war
We
ate well on the Canberra. Our chefs did a marvellous job. About 4000 meals
of stew were prepared for the prisoners on our way to Argentina. The prisoners
disembarked before the meals were served. The menu remained the same for several
days after that !!!
Rendezvous with the QE2
Always rivalry between the two ships. The QE2 was considered to valuable from a publicity point of view to send into the war zone. Canberra picked up the Gherkas from South Georgia and transported them to the Falklands. A pensive but uneventful second visit into San Carlos Bay.
There
were icebergs in the water and penguins were a familiar site especially near
South Georgia.
