Helicopter on deck

Helicopters were our constant companions. Officers quarters were just above the helicopter deck making sleep impossible at times.... especially for the 12-4 watch.

"A Seaking touches down"  

The containers on deck contained a wide variety of things, from munitions and missiles to tents and batteries. Sadly enough, before our return to Southampton, much of the unused equipment was thrown overboard. We were told that it had been signed out as stores for the war and could not be returned. We salvaged what we could. What a waste.

The Royal helicopter

  Prince Charles "taxi". Just one part of a fantastic day when the Great White Whale returned home. The Prince stayed about an hour and a half but then left. A short visit was so that nothing was taken away from the troops returning home.
