Vertical Climb

Sunday the 24^th July 2005 saw four vehicles venture out into

the rough stuff of the Watagan Mountains, half way

between Sydney and Newcastle.

Along for the ride where:

Daniel and Sarah (1998 NISSAN Pathfinder)

George and Colleen and kids (2002 TOYOTA Landcruiser 100 Series)

Wayne and Chris (1993 TOYOTA 4Runner)

Karl and Marie-Therese (2003 TOYOTA Hilux)

Mud, rocks, and dirty tracks is the usual plaything in these Mountains,

but every now and then you come across something that begs for a set of

BIG KAHUNAS.

And luckily for the rest of us, George brought the pair with him!

“C'mon George, YOU got the SNORKEL, the BIG NEW TYRES, AND the WINCH!

You've never used them, C'mon you wuss, Go for it!!” – Karl

After only testing the depth of the crossing for 1/3 of the way,

“Ummmm, OK” - George

“Rock, Paper, Scissors. Looser goes in the drink after him if he gets bogged” – Dan & Karl

I shook the paper, Dan shook the scissors!!

and the dramatic events on that sunny afternoon unfolds........
