How to Work with Angels
Who are the Angels?
For aeons angels have been considered the messengers of God. Traditional teachings frequently report the intervention of these godly beings in the affairs of men; instructing them, helping them and rescuing them.
Angels are emanations, or spirits of God. They are to him what sunbeams are to the sun. They were created to serve and minister to us, and answering your prayers is their special reason for being. They are ready to help you solve your problems, big and small. Angels can: help bring success in your work, finances and relationships; heal you, your family and friends; guide and inspire you in your everyday life and in fulfilling your divine plan; bring you closer to your Higher Self; protect against all forms of danger, illness, misfortune or accidents, and help end wars, bring peace and promote brotherhood and understanding.
Many people ask: "If angels are so powerful, why don’t they intervene in our lives when we need them to?" The answer is simple . . . By cosmic law, angels can only intervene in our lives when we ask them to. Unfortunately, because of a lack of understanding of the nature and purpose of angels, the teaching related to them has gradually faded away. Very few people now know how to successfully ask the angels for help. Angels are all-powerful, and since they are not confined to time and space, they can manifest their presence in many locations at the same time. It is their great desire to be our friends, and they love us with all the intensity of their divine nature.
What can we do to be granted the help of Angels?
By cosmic law, angels must answer any call that comes from a child of God. But there is one rule that the angels seldom break: they don’t intervene in our lives unless we ask them to. Although we live in a material world, we have a special link to God through his angels. And we each have a part of God, a divine spark, within us that allows us to ask the angels for help - and to expect results! When you use this energy of God that is in you to direct the angels, they can answer you with all the power of the universe. Try the following exercises to develop a working relationship with angels so that when you call, they answer!
Make room in your life for angels. The angels live in a world of Spirit, the heaven-world, and we live in a world of matter. Angels naturally gravitate towards their home, so you need to make your world - your thoughts, feelings and surroundings more like theirs. Separate yourself from all distractions. Go into a room by yourself or to your favourite nature spot, imagine an angel in your mind, and simply talk to them about your problems. And then listen. Be silent and wait for the thoughts that the angels will put in your mind.
Use the name of God. When God spoke to Moses out of the burning bush, he told him to tell the children of Israel that his name is I AM THAT I AM and that "this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." The Jerusalem bible translates this as "This is my name for all time; by this name I shall be invoked for all generations to come." When you use the name of God, I AM THAT I AM, the power of your prayers are greatly increased.You will also get a more powerful response when you speak to the angels out loud. Speak your prayers, fiats and decrees with love and humility, but in a strong firm voice, and watch how the floodgates of heaven will open for you!
Visualise what you want to happen. You can increase the power of your prayer by maintaining a strong mental picture of what you want to happen. In addition, visualize brilliant white light surrounding the problem or situation. Concentrating on a picture that is relevant to your prayers may also help.
Be specific. The more specific your request, the more specific the answer will be. As long as you are living your life in harmony and devoting your energy to helping others, the angelic hosts will help you with the smallest details of your life. It can help to make a list of all the things you need help with to be more specific. Ask yourself what you want the angels to help you with. You can recite the list each day in prayer, ticking things off as they are answered, and adding new things as they arise.
Expect to be surprised. The question occurs to just about anyone who has ever thought about angels: Why do the angels answer some prayers and not others? One reason is that the angels’ ability to respond to our prayers is based on the cumulative effects of our past actions - our good and bad deeds from this and previous lifetimes, also known as karma. When we pray and give devotion to the angels, they can sometimes eliminate the effects of karma, but often they can only reduce them. The angels hear all of your prayers. But in order for your requests to be granted, they must fulfill three conditions: they may not interfere with God’s plan for your soul (or your karma); they must not be harmful to you or anyone else; and the timing must be right.
Send your prayer to the right address. Angels have different jobs. And they use different frequencies (corresponding to different colours) to accomplish those jobs. It is good practice to direct our requests to the Archangels, who are the direct leaders of the angels. Each Archangel has many legions ready to answer his call. You can become more closely connected with the angels when you call to the archangel whose angels specialise in handling what you want done.
